Harvest Complete

The Heart

The Fall Season in Michigan is beautiful! What a delightful presentation as the trees show off their array of colors.

Fall can be fun, fun, fun... but not for me this year. We are moving next year. Our house will go up for sale after Christmas.

(Anyone looking to move to Northern Michigan? Need a house/cabin?)

My mind has been occupied with the task at hand in order for our house to be ready to sell in the winter months.

Harvesting that most people accomplish in the Fall months would include: Collecting their garden vegetables, canning, baking and enjoying their bounty.  This year my harvesting was the task of removing eighty perennials from my flower beds and removing any evidence of a vegetable garden. This was a daunting task since I needed eighty containers. My eyes always watching for curb-side throw away containers. After totally removing two flower beds and removing the evidence of a vegetable garden, the task of growing grass seed became my focal point (not my favorite plant to grow). Next came the problem, where was I going to store all these plants for the harsh Michigan winters. The plants will be fine but the pots will be frozen to the ground for a possible move.

My Answer

Now my only keeping the snow from crushing it!

My plants are snug and secure now.

With a clean slat - I will have fun creating a new landscape design for our new home. Bigger and better is my motto.

When God cleans up our Secret Garden, that place within the heart, it must be very rewarding to see his new handiwork displayed.

"How hard it can be to trust in God’s timing. We are a people who want what we want and would prefer it right now. Sometimes it seems as if we are not even on God’s clock. Yet, there is never a time in which He is not aware of the desires of our hearts. He does, however, know better than we do, whether what we want to happen, is necessary or good for us. Welcome to the place that I refer to as my “Secret Garden”. That place is my heart, where I share who I am. Gardener, Landscaper, Card Maker, Nature Lover – are just a few of my loves. My new adventure that I am about to embark on is “Homesteading”. I see chickens in my future. But my ultimate love is Encouraging Others with the Love of Christ and I do that by sharing my experiences in hopes that you know you are not alone.

The Areas I have had the privilege of serving in: President of Okinawa, Japan International Women’s Club, Speaker, Author, Bible Teacher, Personal Mentor.

Welcome to the place I refer to as my 'Secret Garden' that place where the real me is revealed. What you will discover is that I love God, almost everything I do is centered around that relationship. I love helping others to find that relationship as well. I also love Vintage everything, landscaping, gardening, paper crafting and urban homesteading. -Valerie
