Understanding How Your Spouse Shows Love Is Key!

A friend shared with me that she had read the book that started the process of understanding the signs of love in their relationship. It helped her to realize how different she was from her husband. It also helped her to understand that she needed to start reading between the lines – concerning actions. She shared with me,  “This was the first time I was told that my husband was a “fixer”.  She had not realized that when she asked him to listen – he interpreted that to say that she was requesting him to “fix-it”. All the while she was thinking that he was bossing her with his suggestions. But he was actually trying to fix the situation for her. It made a big difference in her life, realizing she needed to read – between the lines.

When you believe that love should be shown only in a certain way, most likely you will  be disappointed. It is very rare that your spouse will get it right every time according to your desires.

It is time to read between the lines!

You may be surprised how much you are  shown love throughout your day.  I was talking to a lady who was sharing that she had never experienced unconditional love.  When I asked her “How many years she had been married?”  She told me over forty, I point out that forty plus years of marriage was unconditional love.

Most Fairy Tales end with a romantic kiss and the hero carries his love away. Personally, my day does not always end in a romantic kiss but my hero carries my heart away every time.

In the book The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts , Chapman brings out five ways that love might be shown. Affirmation, Quality Time, Giving Gifts, Service to Others and Physical Touch. This book is not Christian based and brings about a lot of controversial on if the author is Biblically sound. I do like how he shows different avenues in which people show love.

How does your spouse show you love?

A better question may be, how do you show your spouse love?

I would love to hear from you.  Chat is available on the right hand corner of this page, I am online through out the day.

You can leave a response at the bottom of each post too.  Join me tomorrow for another day in the marriage series.

Welcome to the place that I refer to as my "Secret Garden". That place is my heart, where I share who I am. Gardener, Landscaper, Card Maker, Nature Lover - are just a few of my loves. My new adventure that I am about to embark on is "Homesteading". I see chickens in my future. But my ultimate love is Encouraging Others with the Love of Christ and I do that by sharing my experiences in hopes that you know you are not alone. The Areas I have had the privilege of serving in: President of Okinawa, Japan International Women's Club, Speaker, Author, Bible Teacher, Personal Mentor.

Welcome to the place I refer to as my 'Secret Garden' that place where the real me is revealed. What you will discover is that I love God, almost everything I do is centered around that relationship. I love helping others to find that relationship as well. I also love Vintage everything, landscaping, gardening, paper crafting and urban homesteading. -Valerie
